It's happening in Canada too!
A group of Christian leaders declares the church to be at war with the government
I was recently contacted by an insightful Canadian journalist - whose name I won’t disclose not to impede on a forthcoming piece - about an initiative called “The Niagara Declaration,” crafted by a group of Christian leaders in 2020. The declaration was signed by “279 churches, organizations, and elected officials” in response to what they perceive to be an attack on their freedoms and liberties by the Canadian government. This clearly was grew out of the COVID-19 measures, but also addresses some of their other grievances.
Christians are facing an attack on our historic liberties and Charter freedoms. These include (but are not limited to) various persecutions in the form of media propaganda, speech and human rights codes, Supreme Court decisions regarding Christian institutions and end of life issues, municipal and provincial bylaws regarding sexuality and gender, indefinite emergency restrictions and lockdowns, and proposed amendments to the Criminal Code that could radically curtail the freedom of Christian leaders, churches and parents (cf. the federal bill to criminally ban so-called “conversion therapy”).
Those familiar with sphere sovereignty, Christian Reconstruction, and the 17 Worldview documents of the Coalition on Revival will quickly recognize the style, language and theology that transpires in the document.
These seemingly under-sieged Christians also organized a three-day conference entitled “The Church at War,” which is now held at Trinity Bible Chapel in Waterloo, Ontario from November 17-19, 2022. Some of the authors and signatories of the Niagara Declaration are taking part in the conference, and many of the same leaders feature in a documentary called “Antichrist and His Ruin,” which will premier during the conference. You can watch the trailer below.
The goal of the conference and the documentary is to showcase their grievances against the state and how Christians are to respond.
“The state’s declaration of war against the church is the substantial fuel of a combustible environment. In this, the church must be a blazing torch, while firing back.”
Stay tuned for the Canadian journalist’s report on this Christian group’s initiative in the coming weeks. It is expected that the leaders and signatories of the Niagara Declaration will view the media’s reporting as propaganda and persecution against the church.
I will post the news article when it appears.
